How It Started
Susy first came to Ferragudo in 2020. What began as a short stay gradually became home. Together with her friend Jacoba, she developed the idea of a small community project – bringing people together through movement and shared experiences in the village.
After Jacoba passed away, Susy continued offering classes under the name Yoga Ferragudo. After a period of reflection, the project has now found a permanent home in its own studio, carrying the original vision forward.
The Approach
Yoga Ferragudo focuses on small group classes, clear guidance and an atmosphere that welcomes people with different levels of experience. The classes are designed for those who feel unsure about starting yoga or believe they might not be flexible enough – movement is approached step by step, at your own pace.
This is not a performance-focused studio and not built around trends or intensive fitness routines. The focus is on regular practice, simple movement and a supportive environment.
A Place to Return To
The yoga room accommodates up to 12 participants. Mats, blocks and straps are provided. A natural rock formation within the original building structure remains visible inside the room and gives it a distinctive character.
There is a small coffee machine in the studio. Anyone who feels like it is welcome to stay a little longer after class – sometimes that simply means sitting together for a few minutes, having a conversation or getting to know others from the village or from abroad. Yoga Ferragudo is simply a place to move, practise regularly and feel at ease.
